Revision Rhinoplasty in Istanbul
Revision rhinoplasty is secondary nose surgery after a previous rhinoplasty. It is usually more complex because scar tissue, missing cartilage, altered anatomy, and airway compromise may be present.
Why revision cases are different
A nose that has already been operated on may have scar tissue, reduced support, irregular bone or cartilage edges, graft material, or weakened valves. This makes diagnosis and planning more technical than first-time rhinoplasty.
Common reasons patients seek revision
Patients may seek revision for persistent hump, over-resection, pinched tip, crookedness, breathing obstruction, visible asymmetry, collapsed sidewalls, or a result that does not fit the face. The goal is not simply to make another change, but to rebuild a stable and functional structure.
Cartilage and support
Revision surgery may require grafting. Septal cartilage is often preferred when available. Ear cartilage or rib cartilage may be considered when more support is needed, especially in complex revisions.
Timing and expectations
Many surgeons prefer waiting until swelling and scar tissue mature before revision unless there is a specific urgent problem. Patients are commonly told to expect a slower and less predictable healing curve than primary rhinoplasty.

Revision surgery can carry higher risk of swelling, scar contracture, asymmetry, persistent obstruction, skin envelope limits, graft visibility, and need for further surgery.
