Piezo Rhinoplasty
Piezo rhinoplasty uses ultrasonic instruments for selected bone work. It is a tool, not a separate philosophy, and is usually discussed only when it supports the surgical plan.
What Piezo changes
Traditional rhinoplasty bone cuts can be made with manual instruments. Piezoelectric devices use ultrasonic vibration to cut bone more selectively, which may reduce trauma to surrounding soft tissue in appropriate cases.
Why patients ask about it
Patients often associate Piezo with less bruising and swelling. Some studies and clinical experience support less soft-tissue trauma, but recovery still depends on anatomy, surgical extent, skin type, and individual healing.
When it may help
Piezo may be useful for precise nasal bone reshaping, controlled osteotomies, and reducing unwanted fracture lines. It is not automatically needed in every rhinoplasty.
What it does not guarantee
Piezo does not guarantee a perfect result, painless recovery, or no swelling. It is one technical option inside a broader surgical plan.
Risks and limitations
The risks of rhinoplasty still apply: bleeding, swelling, bruising, asymmetry, persistent breathing issues, numbness, dissatisfaction, and revision surgery.
